Steve Howell Leading Line Up of Bay Area’s Top Naturalists & Birders at the Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival

International Birder and Author Will Deliver Keynote Address and Lead Youth Hike

Point Reyes, Calif - The 2015 Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival, April 24-26 in Point Reyes Station will feature international birder and author, Steve Howell.  Steve is one of North America’s premiere birders and bird scientists.  The 2015 festival will offer over 50 field trips and indoor workshops guided by the Bay Area’s top birders as Josiah Clark, Jules Evens, Keith Hansen, Joe Morlan, John Muir Laws, Bob Power, Peter Pyle, Dan Singer and David Wimpfheimer.  The Festival also has events for beginning birders, kids and a bilingual event in San Rafael on Saturday, April 25th.

Festival highlights include a Friday evening presentation by Allen Fish, director of the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory, featuring his never-before-seen series of highlights from GGRO's history and memorable stories about the unpredictable nexus where people meet raptors.  Saturday evening festivities include a happy hour for festival participants, silent auction and banquet dinner provided by Delicious Dish with keynote presentation by Steve Howell,  SHIFT HAPPENS: Rare (Vagrant) Birds in North America – Why, Where, and Whence?

Throughout the Festival weekend, you can easily see migrating shorebirds, lingering wintering waterfowl, resident and migrant land birds and raptors.  In addition, enjoy the beauty of the stunning native wildflower displays, the excitement of spotting migrating whales and the joy of observing and hearing the elephant seal colony.  The Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival is a unparalleled birding and nature experience!  Point Reyes is the ideal setting or a spring bird and nature enthusiasts of all experience levels, don’t miss this great opportunity.

The Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival is sponsored by the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin (EAC), a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works for clean air, pure waters, healthy ecosystems, a diverse and thriving native flora and fauna, and the preservation of a rural, community spirit in West Marin.  Read about EAC at www.eacmarin.org.

Greening the Festival. To help save important bird habitat on the wintering grounds of neotropical migrants as well as to offset the energy used by people driving to the festival, we are making a donation to the reforestation program of the nonprofit Monteverde Conservation League in Costa Rica. Read about them and make your own additional donation if you wish.
